Jessica SiewJessica Siew is a 4th year AFM student who has accomplished long list of achievements during the course of her undergraduate term. She began her co-op experiences at Ernst & Young in audit and has since worked at CIBC, Goldman Sachs, Polar Asset Management, and soon, the Boston Consulting Group. She has taken part in many of SAF’s extracurricular activities, such as the Student Investment Fund, hEDGE Financial Services Conference, the CFA Investment Research Challenge, and more.

Ruth WoodsRuth Woods is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, a notable law firm. She went to the University of Waterloo, where she completed her Bachelor of Mathematics and specialized in computers & business. She went on to complete her MBA at the Rotman School of Management. Ruth Woods is one of the founding directors of Women in Capital Markets, an exceptional initiative aimed at getting women more involved in the finance industry.

Angie HanAngie Han is a University of Waterloo alumnus who is currently working as an Investment Banking Analyst in M&A at TD Securities. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she worked in Deloitte's audit group for all of her co-ops and upon graduating, she obtained her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations. She eventually switched into valuations at Deloitte which prepared her for her current job in investment banking.

Bianca VasuBianca Vasu is a recent UW graduate who is currently working as an Investment Banking Analyst at BMO Capital Markets. She believes it is very important that women who want to go into finance have resources such as WIF as it is still a very male-dominated industry although there has been some diversity in recent years. She encourages women to reach out and learn from one another. Her first co-op experience was in Ernst & Young's audit practice, and the rest of her co-op were in various areas of BMO Capital Markets.

Mitchell HoMitchell Ho is currently a 4th year Accounting and Financial Management student at the University of Waterloo who is currently working as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at RBC Capital Markets. He has had previous co-op experiences in public audit and private equity as well. Mitchell was also involved with extracurricular activities such as the hEDGE Financial Services Conference, the SAF Student Investment Fund, and the CFA Institute Research Challenge, where his team won the local championships in Ontario.

Lauren is a recognized leader in the Canadian Tech, Accelerator, & Innovation Ecosystems. In our last Lunch & Learn session, Lauren talked about Highline Beta--a hybrid corporate venture studio & VC fund, her path to venture capital, and the work she has done to support female investors and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Judy is a SAF alumna who has worked at prestigious organizations in various finance roles including investment banking in New York, private equity, and more. Currently, Judy is working in private equity as an Associate at Altas Partners. This session took place from 12-1pm EST on May 27, and consisted of an overview of Judy's career followed by an open Q&A session.

UW WIF is excited to announce the speaker of our second Lunch and Learn - Sanjukta Sengupta! Sanjukta is a SAF alumna who has worked at prestigious organizations in various accounting and finance roles such as consulting, capital planning, global markets, and investment banking! She has had the opportunity to work at many well-known firms such as Deloitte and CIBC. Currently, Sanjukta is working in European Leverage Finance as an Investment Banking Associate at Deutsche Bank. This session took place from 12PM-1PM EST on Tuesday June 29th, and consisted of an overview of Sanjukta’s career journey, followed by an open Q&A session.

Lara is the President and CEO of WCM (Women in Capital Markets), a national not-for-profit organization striving to accelerate equity, diversity and inclusion in finance. Lara will tell us more about WCM, her career path, and experience navigating the capital markets space.
