UW WIF is excited to announce that we are hosting a Pathways in Finance Virtual Conference on February 25th! Invited firms and industry leaders will tell you all about market trends, their respective areas and roles, and much more!
Our conference will begin with an inspiring keynote from Barbara Stewart, who is a very experienced finance professional, author and researcher specializing in women and finance. The keynote will be followed by two informative firm sessions hosted with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and RBC Global Asset Management. We will then proceed with a Sustainable Finance Panel and two more firm sessions hosted with Disruption Ventures and TD Securities. Each session is one-hour long, and selected students will have the opportunity to network in breakout rooms in smaller groups with two firms of their choice. This conference is open to all University of Waterloo students that identify as female. All students may attend the Sustainable Finance Panel (no application required). We are excited to announce UW WIF's Pathways in Finance Conference Keynote Speaker—Barbara Stewart, CFA.
Barbara is a leading researcher specializing in women and finance, with a focus on real life financial behaviour and global insights about how women think and communicate. Every International Women's Day, Barbara publishes her annual Rich Thinking report, a qualitative white paper based on 50 interviews with women investors from all over the world. In addition to this, she also works as an Executive Interviewer for global financial firms seeking to gain a deeper understanding of their key stakeholders. With over 20 years of experience in portfolio management and investment counselling for high net worth investors, she is also a columnist for the CFA Institute’s Enterprising Investor, Golden Girl Finance, Canadian MoneySaver magazine, and is on the Advisory Board for Kensington Capital Partners in Toronto. We are pleased to announce the Sustainable Finance Panelists for our Pathways in Finance Conference coming up on February 25th - Mareen Georgie, Veronica Chau, Mary Chan, and Upkar Arora! Our panelists come from well-accomplished financial backgrounds and are currently working in leadership positions at reputable firms.
At J.P Morgan, Mareen is an expert on green, social and sustainability bonds and loans and is specialized in GHG emissions accounting, climate change strategy, and E&S risk management. Veronica is part of the core team at BCG that works with financial Institutions, investors and companies on societal impact strategies where she is leveraging over 15 years of working with various stakeholders. Mary has been at CIBC for almost six years in corporate banking in the financials and public sectors group and is now working as Director of Sustainable Finance. Upkar is CEO of Rally Assets, which is a full-service impact investment management and advisory firm providing tailored impact investing solutions that allow their clients to align their investments with their values. Our panelists’ will provide you with insightful information from their respective fields and help you gain a deeper understanding of this emerging area of finance.
